About the district
Nasimi is one of Baku's central districts: more than 220,000 registered residents live on about 10 km², and it has no separate settlements. It is home to Baku railway station and the suburban rail terminal, plus 28 May, Jafar Jabbarli and 8 Noyabr metro stations; 28 May is the main interchange between the Red and Green lines. The district is packed with universities, including the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, the Medical University, the University of Languages, Baku Slavic University and the Baku Music Academy. Dense streets, a mix of older and newer buildings, and plenty of cafes and shops give it a truly central feel. Nasimi suits students, young professionals and anyone who values transport links and closeness to the centre. Density is high, so traffic and limited parking are everyday realities.

Neighbourhoods
28 May
In listings, “28 May” usually means the blocks around 28 May metro station and Baku railway station in Nasimi district (not the settlement of the same name in Binagadi). It is the city's transport hub: 28 May is the interchange between the Red and Green lines, the suburban rail station is next door, and Jafar Jabbarli station is close by. The area is full of universities, offices, cafes and shops, and Fountain Square and the centre are a walk or one or two stops away. Buildings are mostly older and mid-age blocks, plus newer residential towers. It is very convenient for students, young professionals and investors targeting rental income. Heavy daytime foot traffic, noise and difficult parking are the main drawbacks.
